A lot of us make use of WhatsApp for various things like chatting, calling,for business interactions and the rest. Some of us only know how to open our whatsap application, chat ,send photos ,videos and messages but there are more interesting basic applications we do not know about whatsapp.
On the other hand,some people's primary business with WhatsApp is just to send messages and that's the only deal they have with WhatsApp.
Looking at the application itself, it seems simple and at the same time complicated to some people. When I look at some older people who use WhatsApp ,their only aim is just to send messages and that's all.
I was in a bus few weeks ago, chatting on WhatsApp platform, I was so engrossed with the conversation without any knowledge that an elderly woman was also engrossed with how I was typing and the other additional things we do on WhatsApp. The irony of the whole thing was she couldn't comprehend how I was able to send some messages and photos,copy ,paste , highlight messages to reply.
She tapped me and asked,“ is your WhatsApp application different from mine?". I was perplexed at her questions and I replied with a confused look on my face“ no ma'am,it is the same thing with yours,why did you ask". And she confessed“ I only know how to type and send messages on WhatsApp but a novice in the other things that people do with WhatsApp."
Of course weighed the time it will take me to brush through the basic applications on WhatsApp and the it will take the bus to reach my destination,I had to no option than to teach her. We learn everyday!!!I had to download everything to her and she was glad I did but it was a tough one because teaching older people on how to use applications like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, e.t.c is a big headache. Phweeeew!!!!
When it comes to some phone applications,,a lot of us are novice while a lot of us are so damn good at these applications to the point that we can do and undo.
This woman's story is not the only shocking story. There are some stories you will hear about whatsap users and their “not know how" mentality in the usage of whatsap and you will ask yourself “why are they using that application in the first place?"
Now for the benefit of those who are trying to know the basic things people do no know how to do on WhatsApp. You will be shocked as I list them, don't be surprised you might fall in one category..........
• A lot of people do not know how to change their display picture on WhatsApp that's why you will see them using the same picture they have been using ever since they installed WhatsApp on their phone.
• A lot of us do not know how to change our WhatsApp status ,it is not that they do not know what to write they just can not comprehend which area it is, that's why you will see their status like this" Hey there! I am using WhatsApp." From year to year that's what you will see on their status.
• A lot of us do not know where to locate settings on our WhatsApp. That's why you will keep hearing them saying“ I don't receive WhatsApp notifications", “ my incoming messages do not make any sound"Hahahaha!!!!
• This one is the most common among them all. A lot of WhatsApp users do not know and understand where auto download is,how to change incoming media from downloading automatically and what the purpose of having the application itself .
• Whatsap has new features and many things have been added to the application. A lot of us do not know how to add stories ( pictures, videos and write ups) on our status udate talk more of viewing another person's status. Very funny!!!!
• A lot of us do not know where the icon for saving important messages and how to save it. You know it's true.In essence we do not know what this icon 🌟 means.
• A good number of us are guilty of not understanding how to send photos, videos or even write small sentences on our photos.
• A good number of us do not even know the right button to press for incoming WhatsApp calls and we will end up declining the calls.
• we are also guilty of asking people how to upload videos on WhatsApp Status update without going to the main videos folder in our phones,how to highlight a message and reply directly to the person especially if we belong to a group.
•Last but not the least,a lot of WhatsApp users do not know that when they install a new WhatsApp and they changed Sim and number,they will loose all their chats. I keep getting some questions from close friends who in one way or the other misplaced their phone and phone number as well. They will end up asking me how they can retrieve their chats back . It is not possible because you have lost your contact with WhatsApp.
I know we were once guilty with one or two things I listed above before we eluded into the world of whatsap professionals in using Whatsapp while others are practically guilty in all the things I listed.
