The increase rate of crime in Akure including including robbery, killing, rape, theft, even kidnapping is not left out.
Few years ago, about four traditional leaders were kidnapped, while the wife of one of them was brutally killed in the process.
The current victim is oba Sunday Joel Daodu, the olujani of iyan Akoko, who was kidnapped last Sunday on his way to Akure.
Narrating his experience after spending four days with the kidnappers, said that he was captured arround 4:30pm.
He said that he left home at about 4pm and was on his way to Akure when he suddenly ran into the hands of the kidnappers at a spot in oba-akoko.
"At first, I thought they were armed robbers when they shot at us closely and we were forced to stop.one of them shot my car tyre and dragged me and another traditional chief into the bush".He narrated.
Still speaking, he said that they were forced to march into the bush just as Olu Falae did and they only stopped when the kidnappers wanted to rest.
Bola said "we drank water from ponds where cattles drank from, while we slept on heavy rocks and we were made to trek a long distance".
He added that the hardship they passed through is not what he would want his enemy to pass through and he even forgot that it was Easter.
"They told the other captive that they were forced to do the job because of the bad economy situation and their leader asked me to pray for him so that he could quit the job".
Reacting to the trend, the Obas sermoned the federal government to provide enough security men so as to enhance maximum security most especially for traditional rulers.
During a meeting, the Obas saw the trend as a taboo most especially when it comes to traditional rulers.
"it is an abomination for anybody to toil with traditional rulers or even to lay fingers on them talk more of kidnapping them, and anyone who is found in such act will see the wrath of God."
Governor Akeredolu has promised to handle the issue, promising that the issue will be looked into.
