Don't Let Tribalism Limit your Freedom

A man can say he is free when he has learned to accept and adapt with those who are different from him. When he has learned to accept those who do not do things the way he does his, people he is better than,love them and can laugh whole hearted with them, then he can say he is 'tribal free'.

Most often, our freedom is limited because our difference in tribe. When you look at religion, it has gone far to kill our tribe. When you meet an Hausa man, he will tell you that he is a "Muslimhausa", and when you meet a youruba man, he will say he is a" Yoruba Christian", like wise an Igbo man.

When their is diversity in religion,   t and tribe, there is no effort that will result into positivity. For the fact that we are different in the way we think, act,eat,behave and interact. Doesn't make us totally different.

When a man is limited only to his tribe, he will not have the free mind to exercise his duely right. Tribalism will make him focus only on the things that concerns him, neglecting the other things that comes with another tribe.

A man who cannot negotiate or interact beyond his space, will not have an open mind to accommodate others. Someone who only loves his tribe and doesn't socialise with other tribes is nothing but an extremists.

When different cultures comes together with their cultures and ways of doing things, everything spiced up will make everything beautiful.

Some marriages fail because the couple got to realize late that they are two different people. Tribalism has jeopardized marriages because of the foundation it was laid.

Some people ended their loving relationships that supposed to lead them to marriage because both families did not come come into an agreement for a go ahead for their children.

Taking a close look at the movie:" The wedding party", the movie was constructed in a way that the message passed across is very clear. To simply put, tribalism shouldn't be a hindrance to your happiness , it shouldn't either make you feel more superior or less superior than other tribes. It should be a tool to bring people together and let love to rain, and hatred to be a thing of the past.

Tribalism should be a tool to bring everyone together not to tear us apart. It should be a tool that will unite everyone together because of our differences but not an opportunity for blood shedding.

In fact languages have turned to a tool used by different tribes to connive against someone from another tribe. It has turned to a means where people use it to communicate when they don't want the other person to hear of it.

Indeed, no one is limited to just one language. There is freedom for one to
t learn other languages. But how can one truly get this freedom when he/she limits him/herself only to his tribe. There will not be room for new things to exist because everyone has locked up their hearts only to his own tribe.

When we say one love, that sentence exists only to those who are ready to break their ways and head towards freedom. It only exsits to those who have determined not to be caged by tribe. It only exists to those who say: " I am not a slave to tribe, I am walking my way to freedom."

Freedom comes to those who are ready to fight for it not to those who are tribe oriented. There is nothing wrong in identifying with your tribe. It is beautiful when you are proud of your tribe and at the same time have the mentality that we are one Nigeria.

Tribe shouldn't tear us down but pull us up together. There are people who only castigate and throw blames and pick out wrongs of other tribes. These are the reason for division in unity.

Seeing ourselves as "One" without seeing the diversity in culture, will make us stand in unity. Tribalism should be a tool to keep us as one and make us better not to be used as an excuse for mass destruction.
