Rape is the New Trend

   

   The series of rape in the world today  is not only becoming countless but also becoming a trend. Every day you hear stories or different occurrences of rape and aside this, it is not only the stories of stranger raping someone but also fathers raping their daughters.

     Gone are those days when elders used to tell us; ‘’ the way you dress is how you are addressed’’. But now it is: ‘’ no matter how you dressed, you will be harassed’’.  No one cares whether you dress decently or not, but as far as they can get underneath your pants.

There are some stories about rape that always shock me and keep me wondering why people can have the guts and mind to rape someone they gave birth to, or someone who is close to you.

    

    Countless number of stories about rape has made the society an unsafe place to live, especially walking alone at time. A young girl recounted her story of how her father has been using her as a sex object, the story doesn’t end here, each time he comes, and he usually forces her to lie down so that he can have a quick one. Now the lad in question is eighteen and the same thing still goes on till now. 

I mean who will she tell, even her mother whom she reported just said; ‘’ I am sorry, there is nothing I can do.’’ How on earth can a mother have no say in the affairs of her own daughter? Well I think there is a hidden secret somewhere.

    This lady became insecure about everyone around her. Now she is 18 years old, and her father still sleeps with her each time she comes back from school.

You might be asking; ‘’ why can’t she report him?’’. Well she couldn’t because he is the one paying her fees. Some people who heard this story had different opinions and views, some said; ‘’ probably they are using her for rituals’’, some said; ‘’ maybe the woman played an away match’’. Lol.  All these opinions might be true and some might not be. 

     Everybody wants to have pleasure which of course is a normal thing and not against the law since it is taking place between two mature people and also married couples but when it goes out of hand and generating to the level of rape then it becomes a crime. Apart from the victim being forced into sexual intercourse, it also leaves the victim with a trauma, regret and pain. 

   I remembered years ago,a lady was raped as a child, when she was barely nine years old. The man that raped her happened to be her father’s friend. After the incidence, she couldn’t tell anyone, because the man had already threatened her, and an old man for that matter. And now because of her level of exposure, she sleeps with any man that says: ‘’ i love you’’ even though he didn’t mean it. To her, ‘’sex’’ means love.

  Rape is something that needs to be curtailed because it is becoming a daily activity. These days, it’s no longer about how you dress. Even ladies that cover every part of their body could still be raped.
