We live in a world where virtually everything is done through transaction. Although we are in era of technology where everything financially is done technologically. Even in buying and selling, payment from both parties are done online.
In all these things, we tend to forget that we cash right in our palms in case of emergency. When we are going on far journey, the thought of having extra cash might cross our mind, but we feel so confident that we can easily withdraw the cash anytime, anywhere.
The invent of Automated teller machine (ATM) has made it possible for people to withdraw any amount of money they need . The case of some people is different.
They prefer cashing out that exact amount of money they need without realising that money doesn’t have value. And by the time they run out of cash, to go back to that same ATM and withdraw becomes a problem for them and it becomes a bigger problem when they are embarking on a long journey.
An incident happened sometime ago where a woman got seriously stranded on the road. She had no extra cash to continue her journey. She was hopeful that she could withdraw from the ATM’ close by.
Unfortunately for her, all the ATM’s refused to dispense. She was so confused because her husband told her initially to withdraw enough money and hold it in case of any emergency but she was strong headed saying that withdrawing money again with not be an issue but it eventually became a big issue for her.
A lot of us make this terrible mistake of withdrawing just the amount of money we need at that point in time and by the time something bigger comes up, we will start panicking and running to ATM stand to withdraw.
The problem with us is this: We are too over confident in what we termed " 24hrs service “.
Going out without having enough money could make you loose a life you supposed to save ; including your own life. Just imagine you are going somewhere you have never been to before, you have already gotten some cash that will definitely take you there, everything was going on fine until you made up your mind that you will definitely find an ATM stand in that area.
By the time you got there, nothing like ATM to cash out money and you are in desperate need of cash. What would you do in this situation, steal?, beg for money from people you have never met? I am sure you wouldn’t want to be in this situation .
We have this mindset that when we have extra cash with us, we might encounter men of the world, and they might take everything away from you. It is even a bigger problem when they demand for Money from you and you tell them” I am sorry I have no money with me”.
It is better when you give them the cash than being killed or getting stranded in a land that you do not know.
I know there are many reasons we should always have extra cash with us but I know this little points I have made is clear for us all. I know that a lot of us are not used to being with cash but I plead with us all to endeavour to always be with enough cash for our own safety.
No one knows what will happen in the next minute, and that moment is the time we might need money.
