The heart of man is wicked indeed!! It was at about 0730hrs during the morning mass at the St Philips Catholic Church, Amokwa Ozubulu in Anambra state and while service was ongoing, some unknown gunmen stormed the church in a mafiaso style and opened fire, shooting recklessly at innocent worshipers leaving many killed and injured.
It was gathered that the notorious armed robbers who were three in number shot over 30 worshipers, three were confirmed dead.
Although it sounds like and looked like one of the make belief scenes in Nollywood except that, this was real. It was real killers and with real guns and bullets shooting sporadically into the air and at fellow human beings like they were in a war front.
Speaking on the incident, one of the residents of the ever busy community said '' This morning gun men entered my home town of Ozubulu, precisely at St Philip’s Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu opened fire and killed several worshipers.
''St Philip’s is reputed as a purposed built architectural masterpiece, a luxurious place of worship consecrated about two years ago by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Most Rev Dr Odili Okeke.
''The project was solely financed by world famous philanthropist High Chief Nnamdi Ikegwounwu (Ebubechukwuuzo Ozubulu) . Bodies are being taken to nearby Ozubulu Joint Hospital mortuary.
The death toll is on the increase as the injured and the dead bodies have been taken to NAUTH Nnewi..
Today being a Sunday, all the Doctors and pharmacists attending mass at the church have all moved to the theater and casualty units of the hospital for surgeries and treatment''

''What is not clear is the motive behind this dastard act . Trust the police, they are already on it. A new information has it that the gunmen had actually come looking for Chief Nnamdi Ikegwuonwu , the multi billionaire son of the soil that built the church in his country home close to the church but when they could not find him, they decided to storm the church hoping to find him there. It was further revealed that their inability to figure him out that led to the indiscriminate shooting of the innocent souls worshiping at the church.''
