Truck ran over school children and a middle aged woman

It was a horrible sight to behold yesterday in warri as a truck filled with sachet water crushed little school children and a middle –aged woman to death. The incident which took place at about 8:am close to the well known mechanic village off Effurum Road- Warri attracted to many sympathisers who had to stop by to look at the innocent dead bodies.

It was gathered that the school children whom the truck claimed their lives were between the ages of eight and 12 years were trying to get to the other side of the road when the truck ran them over. It was learned that while the other driver was trying to avoid the children, it swerved off the road and pushed the vehicle into a store.

  

Sources said that the truck didn’t only hit the woman but her body was tore into pieces while the skulls of the school children were ripped out. It was gathered that the children were caught unaware and there is no way they could have survived the accident.

‘' immediately I noticed the speed at which the driver was coming with, I was prompted to jump to the other side of my store, if not I would have been a dead person by now. But God has planned this day for me to be alive,’’ said by a woman who managed to escape the accident.

People were trooping to the scene of the accident to identify the deceased bodies.  In addition to this recent incident, Robbers shot dead a young man yesterday after withdrawing money on the busy Warri-Sapele Road near GRA.

Most often, police assigned in these areas have been weighed down and forced to giving in by the superior firepower of robbers who are always with sophisticated arms. The residents of Warri and Effurun are now scared of coming out from their respective homes or going out from their houses by 7p.m as a result of the consequent criminal activities in these areas.
