Drug Abuse- A menace that will jeopardize the future of Kaduna women



















Over 50% of kaduna youths and women are into drug abuse. The State Bureau for Substance Abuse and Prevention said this. The situation was described by the agency as a menace that was capable of destroying their their future if not properly curtailed.
The Director General of the Agency Dr. Isa Baka said that the rate at which the youths and women in the state uses these harmful substances like; ,codeine , cocaine, tramadol, marijuana and other harmful substances had contributed greatly to unemployment , crime and other ills in the society.
Other factors identified by him are poverty,marital problems,lack of parental care and non- effective public enlightenment are all contributed by drug abuse.
Dr Baka explained that his office are working together with NDLEA( National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency) and other organizations to reduce substance abuse in the state.
It was discovered that people who are affected are within the age range of 10-16 years old, who are mostly teenagers .
" we are going to involve the Ministry of Education and other organizations to ensure that sanity is restored back in our society. As far as substance abuse is concerned , we want people selling drugs to have license and know what they are doing so that they won't be selling drugs to a set of people who do not need the," He added.
In addition to his suggestions, he said that other organizations will be involved like ;NAFDAC, NDLEA,NGO's and prison services to address the growing of drug abuse among youths and women.
