The Big Lie art three

Annie tip toed to her room, slipped into her bed and covered her body with the pink blanket,  that she has been using for the past five years, pretending to be asleep. A few moments, her door was slightly opened and she peeped through her blanket to know who was there; it was her mum. She has been standing in front of Annie’s room for about five minutes.

‘’ Annie!’’ she called her gently, in a low tone, unlike her mother.  She called her the second time, third time and for the last call, she personally moved into Annie’s room, threw the blanket on the flow, no one had to tell Annie to wake up.

‘‘Ouch! My eyes! My eyes!’’Annie cried out loudly covering one part of her eyes with her left palm. Her mum stood like a soldier, her legs widely spread and her hand on her waist. Her eyes were fixed on Annie to the point that they were red like fire.

Annie was about to step out of her room to wash off the pains she is feeling on her eyes. Her mum drew her back with force and said; ‘‘Duro! Duro! Where do you think you are going to? And where have you been since afternoon? What happened to you that you had to cover yourself up in this hot weather?’’

‘‘I...I...I’’. This time, Annie started stammering and staggering, aimlessly touching her neck and avoiding eye contact with her mother. She avoided her mum’s fiery look on her face that frightened her. Annie was praying silently in her mind that the ground should open up and swallow her, which in actual sense cannot happen. She was really shaking inside and her mum could feel the fear within her daughter.

‘‘I...I...I what? ’’ Her mum cuts in.  ‘‘what are you eyeing abi who are you eyeing; I can’t even differentiate which one you are referring to. You suddenly turned into a stammerer eh Annie.’’ She gave Annie a very disgusting look, hissed at her and said; ‘‘I am not through with you, by the time I am done with you, you will regret the day you were born’’. She pushed Annie aside with her left hand and dashed off to the kitchen, before she got there, her food got burnt.

Everything became confusing and blur to Annie, she can’t comprehend why her mum hates her so much or where she went wrong. She keeps ransacking and cracking her brain in order to find a clue to the confusing situation she found herself. Before Annie could figure out one or two things, her mum walked in again. Annie stood up with tears wailing down her cheek, crying uncontrollably, but that didn’t move her mother for one bit. All she is concerned about is to get an answer for Annie’s sudden disappearance.
