Every girl needs to be educated- whether rich or poor, brilliant or not brilliant, normal or abnormal. We all need education.
According to research, nearly 70 million children around the world cannot get a basic education. More than half are girls.The truth of the matter behind educating a girl- child is that it can break poverty, raise responsible future leaders, helpers and good mothers and wives.
A girl with proper education will likely detremine how many kids she will have compared to a girl without education. When a girl is properly educated, she will break the cycles of poverty surrounding her and her community at large.
Here are some insights about the current status of girl's education and the status determines the likely impact it will have in their lives, communities and their families as well and nations around the world.
1.Globally,65 million girls are not in school.
2. There are 31 million girls of primary school age. Sadly seventeen million of these girls will probably not attend school in their life time.
3.Of the 123 million young people of the ages of 15- 24 who can not read or write 61 percent of them are female.
4.There are 33 million fewer girls than boys in primary school.
5.Girls with eight years of education are four times less likely to marry as children.
6. A girl with an extra year education can earn 20 percent as an adult.
7. A girl born to a mother who can read and write is 50 percent more likely to survive past the age of 5.
8. Educated mothers are more than twice as likely to send their children to school.
9. Half of the children who are not in school live in a conflict-ridden countries. Girls make up 55 percent of the total.
10. In 2012, it was discovered that there were 3,600 documenented attacks on education, including torture,violence, intimidation of teachers and children which resulted to death and serious injuries, bombing of schools and recruitment of school-aged children.
