The 2016 batch B stream 2 corp members have been recorded as the most delayed batch in the history of NYSC in the sense that everything were delayed in their own time.
Let's start from the time they were mobilized and their names were later removed from the list because NYSC claimed they had no money. Fortunately , senate intervened and instructed them to re-mobilize them.
After waiting patiently for time table, but to no avail. When many had given up the hope of serving, they brought the long awaited time table and their hopes were revived. Funny!!
For given back their hopes of going for service, they were extremely happy and some went as far as quitting their jobs because they have been called upon to serve their father land in an unknown lands. Strange indeed!
Because of the feelings of "call to service" , most of them slept in cafe' just to print the call-up letter and were faced with another shocker which can make the hopes they had initially to be dismantled and it was written "you are not able to print your call-up because you are not in stream 1, you will be notified when to print".
Well they have no choice than to come back home. Most people who were oppotuned to have personal computers at home could not do nothing but to deliver the news to their parents as they saw it. While those that went to cyber cafe might want to think twice before vomiting it out.
No one knows how many hours it took them in the cafe just to print out their call up letter but while they spent time waiting for network and their turn, seeing that most shocking news gave them no choice than to return home. Some people came back home from the cafe' vigil looking so frustrated and confused.
They accepted their fate and started counting days, then weeks. The drama became serious and interesting as the time table for stream 2 was still under lock and key even when many seems to have resigned from their various working places.
They finally came to camp and they felt they are among. They were dispatched to different local governments, some in a remote village, some in a sophisticated area. You just have to accept it.
After serving for many months, now them to go, they said NO, insisting they fulfil scripture by seeing their children, grand-children, great grand-children and now, great great grand-children. We have seen 2017 batch A stream 1. We also welcomed 2017 Batch A stream 2. As if that was not enough, we welcomed 2017 Batch B stream 1 and are at the verge of welcoming 2017 Batch B stream 2.
The chronicles of 2016 stream 2 batch B corps members.
Mobilized 2016, served in 2017 and about passing out in 2018.
Many people vexed and travelled to their various homes because they were tired of waiting for the final date for POP like they were waiting on the Lord.
It sounded like the normal broadcast messages they used to see : saying that Batch B stream 2 will be passing out on this stipulated date and the next day, another information will be broadcasted asking them to disregard any information they heard concerning their POP.
Seeing the information for the date of the POP, some neglected it because it sounded unserious to them and they traveled while others waited patiently to know if they will be called at any time.
And it happened, the news went viral, people who travelled started another journey. It was like a marathon.
Finally after all have been said and done. After many times of fixing and changing 2016 batch B stream 2 passing out parade, they finally came to a conclusion that they will let them go today, 12/21/2017.
It was indeed a tug of war. They came, saw and conquered.
